"I wish I had a sister!"
"You're so lucky you have a sister!"
That's what we usually hear from 'only childs' or people with no siblings. So what's the deal with having siblings?
There are loads of advantages and disadvantages of having siblings, or to be exact, sisters.
I'm the second of three siblings, all girls, and I know exactly how it feels.
Here are some of the 'perks' of having sisters:
1. You have your own blood-related best friend.
Having a best friend is cool, but having a sister is cooler. You get to gossip about the latest hollywood news at 2 am, or go to them for help, when choosing the right outfit to wear at a party, or take goofy pictures together. Whatever it may be, it gets more fun when you spend it with them.
Having a sister is like having a super close best friend, you just have the same parents, cousins, uncles and aunts, you live in the same house, everything. Not to mention sharing the same DNA!
2. You share stuff.
Whether it be that blue cardigan she owns, or those black sandals that match your dress, you share. It happens. Well, sometimes you get into a little argument about it, you still end up with your sister's stuff.
At least you saved some time just borrowing their things, than you, trying to find another outfit to wear at the party later. ;)
3. You feel less awkward in social gatherings.
Yes, you read that right. It really helps to have a sibling during gatherings.
Let's admit it. We all went through that 'awkward' stage. Whether it be your parents inviting relatives over, or attending a 2 year old's birthday party, you can't help but feel it.
Having a sister helps though. Whenever you feel the awkward silence, you can just talk to them about anything, like how cute your neighbor's dog is, or gossip about the latest trends, whatever. After all, it's always better to talk nonsense, than pretending to text. Haha!
4. You do each other's hair.
Whether it be french braids, dutch braids, waterfall braids, or those complicated ones you see on the internet, you just love hairstyles.
And you know you can't do those mermaid braids, tuxedo braids, etc. on your own! They're just not DIY's!
So you ask your sister to help you , and the next thing you know, you're just sitting down there, leaving all the hard work to her. You just know they could do it.
But then, you have to return the favor. They found a cool hairstyle and they want you to do it for them. That's how it goes.
5. You get Sisterly advice.
Sometimes, when life gets tough, allc we need is some advice, some talk. And what's better than a sibling who gives you some?
Quotes, jokes, or anything, they just know how to brighten up your day.
They sometimes even know you better than you do!
**I guess it ends here! Having a sister is always fun, although along with those perks come some disadvantages.
As the saying goes, "A sister is a little bit of childhood that can never be lost." **
