'Deck the halls with boughs of holly fa la la la la, la la la la
'Tis the season to be jolly fa la la la la, la la la la...'
It's the holiday season once again. It's that one time in the year where bright, colorful decors are retrieved from boxes underneath the beds, inside drawers and shelves, and placed around various corners of the house. It's that one time of the year when people from all around the world gather together as one, celebrating the birth of the Savior.
It's almost Christmas and even in this Desert I call home, carols are being played across the emirates. Malls, Offices, Schools, Hotels, you name it.
There's just one thing that no one can deny- Christmas is coming. And everyone's excited. Even the couple next door are excited! (and they're not Christians!)
We speak in terms of Dubai, and by December, Everyone (if not, almost everyone) has already gone, or even planned, camping in the desert.
Why not? It's free, it's fun, and the temperature out there drops down dramatically too!
There, parties are being held, family outings, overnights, and so on.
Of course, we wouldn't miss the fun right? This is the perfect weather to go camping! (Because trust me, during Summer in Dubai, you wouldn't even want to think of putting the words, Desert and Camping together.)
And because it's almost Christmas, the Dunes are the perfect place for a Christmas Party!
And that's exactly what the Youth Group at Church did!
Well, I haven't exactly gotten there on time, when it all actually started.
Not because we were simply late, but because there had also been a Children's ministry volunteers Christmas party at that same day, same time, somewhere about fifteen minutes away from the Youth's venue.
Fortunately enough, we just missed the games ("NOOO!") , but we were still able to be there for the rest of the program. There were some singing, a bonfire, and food. Oh, and we had exchange gifts too!
Plus, you also get to invite your friends! I'm pretty sure I saw a lot of new faces there. I'm guessing they were friends, or friends of friends. Isn't that awesome?
Celebrating an event makes it even more special when you spend it with your loved ones. In my case, family and friends. I love you guys!
Christmas is unique, and Jesus is the perfect reason to celebrate it.
Here are some of the photos taken from that beautiful night:
