The past few nights have been treating me a little...different? You see, ever since I was younger, I never did have any problems with falling asleep, and staying asleep. Recently ,however, it's as if my sleeping routine just suddenly went through a change, one completely unlike its regular state. It's as if my mind just randomly decided to be extra alert during the times that I definitely did not need it to.

Oh I don't even know where to start. The weekend has been a good one. A great one, actually. I just love how when people ask me, "How was your weekend?", I can really mean it when I reply, "Great!" I definitely learned a lot from the two-day annual national youth retreat that I've been to just a few days ago. The sad part though, is that it is the last one I will get to join since it is my last year as a student. Why am I so old already? Last time I checked I was just 12.
One of the best parts was that I had the opportunity to be a part of one of the youth bands that led one of the worship sessions. The bus ride from my church (Fellowship) in Dubai to Mercure Jebel Hafeet in Al Ain took two hours which meant that we reached the retreat venue at just the right time for soundcheck. Our youth band never got the chance to do a full practice at the place, because we were the first band leading and everything still had to be set up. It's funny how we just kinda went on and did our thing. It wasn't perfect, but with God by our side, everything turned out pretty well. I'm sure it had something to do with the mini huddle time and prayer our small team had before we started! It's a brand new year, It's a fresh start. It's 2018! Again, another chance for all of us to become better versions of ourselves. Or at least try! Either way, a new year always means a new perspective, a new way of seeing things and I believe greater things are going to happen for you and for me in 2018.
I'll have to admit, 2017 was good. It wasn't an easy ride but hey, good days always outdo the bad ones, don't they? 2017 has taught me a lot of things, more than I could remember. Experience is indeed the best teacher, and I'm grateful for every lesson I learned while going through both the best and the tough times. Now that the 3-day holiday is over, everyone's buzzing back to their typical, daily routines. The weekend has been so refreshing for the most of us living in the UAE, because of Islamic New Year, which of course is a good thing because that meant free days for everyone! People got the much needed time to relax, and to just take a break from their busy Dubai lives. I don't know about you, but I'm grateful that I got the chance to spend those three free days with Jesus.
Before you continue, I just wanna give you all a friendly warning: This is a long post. I don't usually write this much, but since what I'm writing about was a three-day event, a lot of things happened, which I want to share with you guys! You may now continue! Date check: 27th of September, 2017.
With only a couple more months (or weeks, hopefully) left, the chilly season would again reveal itself. Winter is undoubtedly fast- approaching. Oh what a joy, and like almost everyone else living here in the sandbox a.k.a. the UAE, I can't wait! I can't wait until it gets cold, and I mean cold, to the point when I can literally see my breath. I can't wait until I get to roam the streets wearing at least three layers of clothing. I can't wait for the rain and thunderstorms, and I can't wait until my family and I can actually get in the car (and not die due to extreme heat) after leaving it out in the sun for an hour. Hello lovely people! How's your week going?
I can't believe this is the last topic for this writing challenge! I'd have to admit that some of the topics were hard to write about, but altogether, I had fun. I hope you did too! For this last one, I'm going to share with you all what I think about my highs and lows for the month. I'm going to start off with the lows first, then the highs... |
